AWRC co-organized a camp with the Youth Interfaith Forum on Sexuality (YIFoS) at Wisma Omah Jawi, Kaliurang Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on 8-14 April 2012.
AWRC coordinator Anna Marsiana served as main facilitator on “Young Queer Faith and Sexuality Camp: Building Peace through Diversity.”
The program was conceived when Edith, YIFoS Coordinator and an activist, visited AWRC Office in July 2011 and shared the struggle of the lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community in Indonesia.
Since then Edith had been joining small discussions in the office. She became interested in AWRC’s critical feminist liberation theology framework of the “Dance of Liberation and Transformation” introduced by Elisabeth Schussler Fiorenza and simplified by Lieve Troch.
Designed as a camp, the program included different activities including indoor and outdoor games, movie review, group & peer discussions and workshops. Another activity was the market of ideas, which is like stalls dealing with different issues or topics for people to explore further their interests, with the stall owner as facilitator.
