Anna Marsiana, AWRC member from Indonesia, has been appointed by the Coordinating Team Members as the new coordinator for AWRC. This appointment followed a period of search and selection process. She will begin her term with AWRC from January 2009.
Anna graduated from the Faculty of Theology of Duta Wacana Christian University, Yogyakarta in 1995. She obtained her MA on Women’s Studies from the Institute of Women’s Studies – Institute of Formation and Religious Studies, Manila, Philippines in 1999.
Anna is currently the national coordinator for The Disaster Response Program in Indonesia for HEKS, Switzerland, a position she has held for more than 3 years now. Prior to this she was Director of the Social Welfare Guidance Foundation (SWGF), a local NGO with nationwide coverage. Her many and varied responsibilities in these positions include managing projects/programs and dealing with different funding agencies, local authorities, and local, national and international agencies and organizations.
Among her other activities, Anna is a trainer and resource person on Gender & Social Transformation. She is also a guest lecturer on Diakonia and Community Development, Introduction to Feminist Theology and Communication & Theology at Theological Institute Sunderman, Nias, North Sumatra. She was consultant to various NGO workshops and resource person and/or facilitator at many workshops such as Inter-faith Women’s Forum against Violence Against Women in Solo, Indonesia (1999); WCC-EED-YMCA-CCA Consultation on Inter-religious Dialogue, Parapat, Indonesia (2002); National Training & Consultation for Grassroots Organizers, Solo, Indonesia (2003); WCC-URM Global Consultation on Mission and Globalisation for Church-based Organizations, Accra, Ghana (2004); and Gender Sensitive Disaster Management for NGOs doing relief in Nias, North Sumatra (2005).
An active member of AWRC since joining in 2001, Anna is also a member of the Ecumenical Feminist Movement, which she joined in 1996. She has been a member of the AWRC Coordinating Team from 2003, member of the AWRC Working Group from 2004, and on the team for Education Module for Teens published by Education Department, GKI, since 2000. She was also on the National Board of YMCA Indonesia from 2002-2005.
